Hunter Mahan and his Ryder Cup teammates joined together to donate $2.6 million to charity, universities, and the families of veterans. Hunter has chosen to donate $50,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association and another $50,000 to
Tee it up for the Troops. The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research who’s mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s, while Tee it up for the Troops is a non-profit organization created to help support the fallen and disabled members of our Armed Forces, and their families. Hunter also donated $90,000 to Oklahoma State University for the Play Golf America University Program and $10,000 to the Folds of Honor Foundation, which supports scholarships for families of veterans who either perished or were wounded in the line of duty while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.

As a Maine Chapter director, former university golf team member and subsequent prep school coach in Mass. (not to your calibre however)I just want to add my congratulations on your recent victories and thank you for remembering the work being done by the Alz. Association. Your generosity will not save my wife from the disease (which she has)but will go a long way toward warding off someone in the future getting this dreaded disease.
Again, thanks and best wishes for hitting them long, straight and not too often!

Hello Hunter,
I want to extend my hearty congratulations to you and the entire American team for your extraordinary performance in the Ryder Cup competition. My husband and I regularly watch golf on TV (as well as play as much as we can!) and we were glued to the Ryder Cup this year. (We especially enjoyed your hole 17 the last day!)
My mother passed away a number of years ago of Alzheimer’s disease and I have since volunteered for the Maine Chapter of the Association, answering the helpline and serving on the Board of Directors. I have known Laurel Coleman for some time, and I helped organize the charity golf tournament here in Maine for several years. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continuing generosity to the Association and the Maine Chapter. Families and caregivers certainly have a challenging task of caring for people with dementia. It’s folks like you who truly make a difference in so many lives. Thank you so very much — and keep up the good work on the golf course! We will be watching…......
Fondly,
Carol and Bob Calcagni
