Greetings to all…
I thought I’d take this opportunity to tell you about someone that Hunter and I have decided is the “Hunter Mahan Fan of The Year.” His name is Logan Swenson, and he lives in Kentucky. Last year at the AT & T National in Washington D.C., we both noticed him following us around for a few holes and around the 5th hole he removed his golf shirt, and underneath it he wore a white t shirt that said: “Hunter is The Ma-han”. Well, we both got a big kick out of it, and after the round and for the rest of the week we saw and spoke with Logan numerous times as he faithfully followed us around. Over the past year we’ve e-mailed back and forth and become good friends with Logan. He has become Hunter’s number one fan and supporter, and we decided that when we saw him last week in D.C. again, that he was The Mafan of The Year….
We are hoping to see him again very soon in Kentucky for the Ryder Cup (Hunter is currently 10th on the points list), but we wanted to take this opportunity to thank him for all his support and ingenuity with the cleverly crafted T Shirt… Great job, Logan. Good luck to you in everything you do and thanks again for all your cheering.!!!
Hunter is taking this week off in preparation for The Open, held this year at Royal Birkdale in England. After last year’s 5th place finish at Carnoustie we are both extremely excited to get back and play in what is always one of the highlights of the year. Here in America we don’t get an opportunity to play links style golf very often, so when we do it is always a huge pleasure and great challenge, and as I’ve said before, the harder the course, the better Hunter plays. So, wish us luck across the pond, and keep your fingers crossed for the next three tournaments as we try and play our way onto the Ryder Cup Team.
I’ll write again soon, and thanks for reading….John

Hi John,
What a great story about your #1 fan, Logan! I’m sure that you and Hunter will be a big influence in his life.
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your past efforts on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association. I have known Laurel for quite a few years and have been volunteering for the Maine Chapter since my mother died of AD in 2001. I helped organize the golf tournament for a few years and was in awe of the time and effort you put in for us in procuring the autographs and items for our auction. And, I know that it is through your encouragement that Hunter has been so very generous to our organization. I know I don’t have to tell you how much this means to families in Maine who are dealing with the disease. So, many, many thanks for your continuing support — of both the Maine Chapter AND Hunter!!! He’s a great guy and a great golfer, and we are looking forward to watching him for many years to come. Congrats to both of you for the stellar performance in the Ryder Cup!!! Way to go.
Fondly,
Carol Calcagni

I am trvelling up from Cardiff which is 200 miles south of Birkdale to watch the Open next week and am staying in the area. Since seeing Hunter at the World matchplay he has been my favourite US player, great ball striking! I plan to follow you around a bit next week though there are so many great players to see. They are saying here that Birkdale is set up as a drivers course so Hunter should be right in the mix! Anyway good luck! Andy
