Q: This week, the British Open. Last week, you didn’t play a tournament. What do you do with an off weekend?
Hunter Mahan: There’s stuff to do around the house, fix things or do whatever you need to do to keep your house running.
Q: Like doing laundry and mowing the lawn? That almost sounds like normal-person stuff.
HM: That’s it. You go into a time warp. You leave your house, and all your friends are going on about their lives. You’re always trying to catch up when you come home.
Q: I checked out your Web site the other day and noticed there are a few photos of you in a Yankees hat. You a fan?
HM: I’m not a big baseball fan in general. I usually wear hats, and I just like the Yankees logo. I definitely look at the Yankees and cheer for them, but I’m not a big baseball fan.
Q: But I know you are a big Oklahoma State fan. Are you able to get to some games?
HM: For sure. I had a great time in college. It was the best time of my life. Every time I go back there, I have a good time. With some of these home games this coming year, hopefully I catch quite a few games. If not, I’ll definitely watch it on TV.
Q: Do guys on tour go back and forth about college sports? Do the rivalries come up?
HM: All the time. When we’re not playing, we’re always talking about something else. Chris DiMarco is a huge Florida guy. He’s always chirping about Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow and all that stuff. Definitely when football season comes around, everyone starts chirping a little more. It’s a little more fun in the locker room, no doubt.
